THESE DAYS ARE EVIL — Official Lyric Video
KALAMITY KILLS is a hard rock band forged in East Nashville, Tennessee, formed in 2022 by vocalist Jamie Rowe and guitarist/producer Jamey Perrenot. Rowe is a veteran performer with decades of experience and shows in over 35 countries, most notably as the frontman of the band Guardian. He grew disillusioned with confining his sound to a single genre and sought to create music with broader, more universal appeal. Perrenot, whose career highlights include serving as Taylor Swift's bandleader and touring with LeAnn Rimes, brings deep production expertise from his East Nashville studio.
Their fan-funded, self-titled debut album dropped in September 2023, blending hard rock, metal, pop, and electronic elements with an impressive roster of guest musicians, including Ray Luzier of Korn, Kiarely Castillo of Conquer Divide, Ace Von Johnson of L.A. Guns, Greg Upchurch of 3 Doors Down, Luke Easter of Tourniquet, and Guardian guitarist Tony Palacios.
The band has built serious momentum heading into 2026.
Their single "Starry Skies (988)," a suicide-prevention anthem featuring Aaron Gillespie of Underoath, spent 9 weeks on the Billboard Top 40 and 12 weeks on the Mediabase Active Rock charts. In 2025, the band expanded its live lineup to include bassist/vocalist Julia Lauren Bullock and drummer Rob Bodley, solidifying its transition from studio project to full-fledged live act. They also released an expanded edition of the debut album featuring new tracks and alternate mixes.
They've continued releasing hard-hitting singles like "Afraid" and, most recently, "These Days Are Evil," an anthem confronting division, manipulation, and digital-age addiction. The band has also secured endorsements from brands like Ernie Ball Music Man, Mesa Boogie, Truetone, Lakland Basses, and Fir Audio — a clear sign that Kalamity Kills is rapidly establishing itself as a force in modern hard rock.
Kalamity Kills sit firmly in the middle and offer something that's lacking in the scene today, memorable tunes. They look good, sound great, have a unique sound and have songs that make me want to turn it all up to eleven.
Hard to believe that Kalamity is an indie release… the finished product is even better than most major labels would have funded.
Kalamity Kills haven't merely produced an album — it's a voice defiantly screaming into the void.
Kalamity Kills is the kind of record that proves rock is alive and snarling — unapologetic, heavy, and threaded with just enough vulnerability to hit you where it hurts.
A thrill-ride through life — will certainly bring you a smile and a tear.
"When the weight of life feels too heavy, remember you're not alone. You've survived 100% of the trials up til now — this is a call to hold on to hope."
Featuring Aaron Gillespie of Underoath on drums and vocals. A powerful message for Suicide Prevention Awareness.
"After witnessing Ozzy's final performance at the Back to the Beginning Concert in Birmingham, England — deeply moved, we set out to honor the icon who shaped so much of our musical DNA."
— Jamie Rowe, Kalamity Kills
Guitarist Jamey Perrenot, deeply influenced by the late, great Randy Rhoads, infused this version with both reverence and fire — with subtle nods to other Ozzy classics woven throughout for the diehards.
